The crystal filter effective position depends on mode. Its one position
different in the SSB mode than in the CW mode. On CW its one switch
position closer to the SSB filter than on SSB. So on CW with the switch
in position 3 you have no filter selected and that truly kills the
receiver gain.
The ALC LED should light at full power. If it doesn't the ALC board may
be set wrong or may not be working.
Some Corsair II have lots of gain. Pull the RF gain control on 75, that
switches out the RF stage. You don't need the RF stage on 75. Its called
an attenuator, but actually its removing the RF stage.
I don't know about the S meter advancing when you raise the processor.
You don't need the processor except to make good audio sound bad like an
over driven DX chaser's station.
