My CII uses a combo twist on-off AF gain pot.  I did not know they 
originally used push-pull switches.  the stock switch in mine must have worn 
out at some past time.  I have been leaving the p.s. switch on and turning 
the radio off and on with the CII f.p. switch.  I have not had any problems 
with this.  My 20 db attenuation RF gain switch is still a push-pull 
switch/gain pot combo.
