I don't know how much more than 100 watts to a 4L quad at about a half a mile
you are getting but my 6N2 doesn't clip with that on simplex so it shouldn't
clip on a repeater. Unless it's on a tower in your back yard.

One thing that does cause clipping is too much deviation, overdriving the
reactance modulator to get more audio punch, something I notice pretty often
during my peregrinations around the country. The signal gets wider than my
rig's
IF - causing dropouts and such. If the signal you hear is wider than your IF,
you get dropouts. If the signal is wider than the repeater's IF everyone gets
dropouts.

I have had to ask for information and then ask the ham on the other end of
the QSO to back off his mike, because he was overdriving "my radio." And I
have
had a couple of overdriven radios clip the repeaters I take care of.

One came from the factory with the mike gain set too high - the other was a
perfect illustration of why screwdrivers should be kept out of radios unless
the wielder thereof has both the instruments and the knowledge to do it right.
All controls are not meant to be hard right, everything with a slot is not
intended to be tightened!
