I have two classic Tentec OmniVI/option 3s and both of them give some character
in
the headphone sidetone. At least part of what is going on is the very high
fidelity of
the headphones I use. They are Sony MDR-V600s and have a range roughly
equivalent to
studio quality phones or speaker system. But boy are they sensitive! The OmniVI
has
the set of resistors in the headphones circuit so they certainly aren't the
cure. I could
use a lesser quality headphone but am not willing to give up the comfortable
and
sensitive Sonys. 8 ohm headphones, of course.
No hiss but some mild clicks remain after the well-known "pull plug 52" fix.
If a rig has a flaw, please let it be a slightly less than perfect sidetone!!!
That's how I
think of the '6'.
