I think they could make a relatively simple kit with the local oscillators,
mixers, IF and filters (45MHz and 455KHz). Take out the extras like AGC (
use attenuators), and the HI-Z input. This would be a very simple kit
allowing a beginner to learn how radio works and use his computer for the
IF processing and audio. look at http://www.detomasi.it/en/project.html.
The only thing needed to make the above program work with the RX320 is to
have adjustable IF frequency to resolve the last few digits of tuning. The
IF frequency is definable but in the initiation file.
Another possibility is to make an RF generator using the same above
components. Up converting from the DSP IF to 45MHz and then down to the
desired RF frequency. Between the two you could make a very good HF
spectrum analyzer w/ tracking generator to help you develop you own
receiver projects.
