Tim,
My Omni VI version 2 has room for only one 9 MHz filter option, and it
has a 500 Hz one in there. Whatever filter you are using in the 9 MHz IF
is the limit over which the passband tuning will function. In other
words if you are using the 500 Hz narrow filter in the 9 MHz IF, and a
500 Hz filter in the 6.3 MHz IF, then the PBT has to be set to within a
pretty small range for anything to get through. If you like to move your
passband tuning around to listen to CW signals at different frequencies
around where you are tuned, without changing the audio pitch of the
signals, you may prefer a wider filter in the 9 MHz IF. Of course the
2.4 kHz standard filter is always there. If you want to hear weak
signals right next to really strong ones, then you will need a really
narrow filter there. I wish I had room for two optional filters in My
Omni VI. If I could, I would go for the 500 Hz filter (that I already
have) and a 1.8 kHz like you have.
