Well, I have never used a paper radio - but I have owned one each of the 
three radios the ARRL labs supposedly ranked so highly. Whatever their 
ranking on paper, I chose to dispose of mine rather quickly and at a 
considerable financial loss. 

The Omni VI+ has pretty much ruled the rig shootouts around here since they 
first came out, and even now, they still out perform all comers in direct one 
on one comparisons.
