If I am not mistaken, there are some differences in the OMNI VI models 
depending on when they were built. At some point, in order to rein in 
costs, Ten-Tec went to a less expensive VFO/decoder on the OMNI VI, I 
believe. Also, didn't they start using surface mount technology to a 
greater extent? So an older rig upgraded to an Option 2 or 3 might actually 
have an edge for some people. Others might not care, since electronically 
and ergonomically the Option 3 and the VI + are identical.
