Lack of sales. The original Paragon 585 was extremely popular - we anticipated
getting Paragon owners to upgrade to a later model, which never materialized.
The Paragon II was only available for three years as a result (the original
Paragon
was ~6 years of production).
What DID happen (later) were many Paragon owners trading up to Omni-VI
and Omni-VI Plus transceivers.
