Hello:
>The 516 seems to be a nice little radio and I'm sure the electronics
inside are fabulous, but man am >I disappointed in the ABS plastic main
knob. As much as I try to overlook the aesthetics of a good >radio, it
troubles me to pay $795 for plastic that looks like something from a toy. A
miniature version >of the knobs used on the big Ten-Tec rigs would have
been far more fitting.
As noted in the product literature and on our web site, the knob for the
516 is
going to be cast zinc with a "finger hole" on the front. The mold for die
casting
the knob was not ready as of last week. The knob on the front of the 516
that we've been showing at hamfests is the same plastic one as used on the
526 VHF transceiver, but will not be the actual knob used in production of the
transceiver when released.
