In the interests or regreasing only once, I use Dow Corning 44 high temperature ball bearing grease for such applications. I would think isopropyl alcohol should cut the old grease, and a toot brush might be useful for helping clean out the grooves. I avoid using WD 40 as its residue attracts dust and becomes gummy with time. Even after alcohol, I would use a lint free wiper to remove any residue before regreasing. 73, Stuart K5KVH |
