Hey Mike....
I had a 580 and was bothered by the same problem with the display. The
inaccuracy was caused by heterodyne oscillator crystals aging and changing
frequency, and since there were no trimmers across them, there was no way to
bring them back.
I installed a pulsing 25 khz freq marker, and put a varactor across the time
base crystal in the display unit. The voltage dividing pot was installed so
that it came through the bottom cover (pointing down) just behind the front
panel skirt. When I changed bands, I hit the marker and adjusted the
display when necessary.
