The reference standard that makes any sense for measuring transmitter
IM is if everyone uses the same reference standard. It really does
not matter if it is dB below PEP or dB below one tone, as long as it
is uniform.
Since virtually all commercial TX IM measurements are dB-below-one-
tone of two-equal tones, it would be nice if everyone used that
standard. If they don't use the standard most others do, they should
***clearly*** state the difference in the results. Something like "we
use dB below PEP, which produces results that appear 6dB better than
conventional tests" would suffice.
Without such a clear warning, it is too easy for people to be
