Seems to me that if one is considering an "ultimate performance" radio then
perhaps they should consider also using "ultimate performance" antennas. To
wit, why is a tuner required for matched antennas? Yes, I know it makes
life easy and allows one to move around the band a bit but most radios are
happy with reasonable SWR values of 3:1 or less and most feed lines don't
show a significant increase in loss with 3:1 SWR or less at HF.
Give me a radio that performs and I'll see to it that it is happy with the
antenna connected to it.
