Hi all,
Just another note of praise for Paul Clinton
and the others in the Ten Tec Sevierville group.
I have been bothered with intermittent power
output failures from my Corsair II for a couple of
years. Sent it back to Sevierville back when for
checkout/repair. They resoldered the low level
driver connections and returned the unit back
out here. Used it on and off for a time, and
noticed the power intermittents occurring again.
I could recover the power by "slapping" the side of
the case with just my fingers. Well, talked to Paul
this morning after having sent the unit back again
in January. Paul discovered that the 8 pole, 9 mHz
filter on the Xtal filter board (the crystal which removes
the undesired sideband on transmit) was NOT soldered
to the board -- evidently hasn't been for more than
11 years!! He soldered it in, and all seems well now.
However, Paul would not take my credit card number for
either the repair or the return shipping to Hawaii! He
said it was their problem to deal with; and that he would
not return the unit just yet as he wants to run a complete
set of performance specifications tests to be sure that
it comes home completely well.
Wow, what a guy and what a great company.
BTW, I am really enjoying the Pegasus and RX-340
set up integrated with N4PY (Carl Moreschi's) software.
As Tony the Tiger might say, "It's Grrrr-reat"!
