Each band is set with a crystal and is independently adjustable. That
gives the radio far less phase noise than it would have if all the
offset frequencies were synthesized. Be sure to use a counter that has
good calibration when you tweak the 160 meter crystal. Then take it to
the other shacks and set their radios to agree with yours.
The strong signal being chopped by the noise blanker is a fundamental
flaw in all blankers. There's not much you can do. With a strong signal
present in the band, you can choose to listen to the noise direct or the
noise chopping that strong signal. Adding attenuator should help with
both problems on 160 meters.
