Many people have asked how I am making out using the RX331
with the pegasus. I have my software running pretty well
with the pair now. The RX-331 is a completely computer
controlled DSP receiver and represents an ultimate receiver
made by Ten-Tec. It is sold as a commercial/government
radio and meets stringent government specs. The RX-340
is essentially an RX-331 with a user front panel added.

I have my software setup so the RX-331 becomes my primary
VFO A receiver. The receiver in the pegasus then becomes
my sub-receiver VFO B. This allows the pegasus remote tuning
knob to tune the RX-331. The filters in the RX-331 are the
sharpest filters I have ever seen. The specs say the 60 Db
to 6 Db shape factors are at least 1.5 to 1. I find them much
sharper than that. The 3000 hertz filter seems to be about
3600 hertz at 60 Db down. This is about 1.2 to 1. The 100
hertz filter is about 120 hertz wide at 60 Db. This is also
1.2 to 1. I find tuning SSB stations that even small changes
like going from 2400 to 2600 hertz make very noticeable changes.

The receiver front end is a battle ship. The ARRL DX contest
was a breeze for the front end to handle. The stability on
the RX-331 is also fantastic.

My software will now work with this combination such that the
user is unaware that he is running a separate transmitter
and receiver. My software will also work with the RX-340
equally well, as both radios have the same hardware and software
interface.

My Pegasus software can now claim to have a very versatile
rig configuration capability. The software can be set
up to use the Pegasus or Jupiter all by itself, or add
the RX-320 as a fully integrated sub-receiver. You can
even add a second Pegasus or Jupiter as an integrated
sub-receiver.

Even my RX-320 software can now be used as an integrated
sub-receiver with the Omni VI, Omni V.9, or Paragon II.
