I did the mod last weekend (2-Caps, 1-Resistor). My assessment is that the
audio sounds much fuller and more natural.
What I did was to "memorized" the sounds of several potentially long winded
rag chews on a couple different bands then performed the modification (gotta
work fast!), and then I listened to those conversations again and compared
what I heard. A much better comparison of course would be to have two Omni
VIs one modified and one stock and evaluate the results.
I have also had the INRAD 2.8 filter in the 9 MHz IF for few years now and
that change made a very dramatic improvement in the balance of the sound
between USB and LSB, and operation of the PBT.

Like that old auto mechanic story - "The part cost me 39 cents, but
knowing what part to replace cost you $150!
When mine arrives I'm going to install with the stock 2.4 kHz filters and
I also have the 2nd IF 1.8 kHz filter as well. I don't want 2.8 kHz
filters in mine since about the only time I'm on SSB is a contest here
and there. I'll report here how it seems to me once I get it in and
check it out. (Subjective comments only since I have no measurement
equipment to go further.)
