I am trying to catalog some of the computer control commands for the Omni VI. I
have one of the very early VI's, but new ROMs (VI+, cheapskate option 3
upgrade). I don't know what is documented in the VI+ manual, but I found at
least one command byte that is not in my manual, the one for filters. Here is
what I found:
This is the word format for a SET (as opposed to QUERY) command, in hexadecimal:
FE FE 04 E0 (command byte) (first data byte) (filter data byte) FD
The filter data byte works when one issues a mode command (06) in the command
byte, and also issues a valid mode byte. Here is an example:
FE FE 04 E0 06 00 03 FD This issues a mode command (06), sets the mode to
LSB (00), and sets the 6.3 mHz. IF filter to the 1.8 position (03).
Here are the first data byte codes for mode, some from my manual:
LSB 00
USB 01
AM 02
CW 03
FSK 04 (not documented in my manual)
FM 05
Here are the filter bytes, which are not documented in my manual:
2.4 (6.3) 02
1.8 (6.3) 03
0.5 (6.3) 04
.25 (6.3) 05
toggle narrow (9 mHz.) filter 06
Does anyone know if there is a way to set the narrow (9 mHz. IF) filter, rather
than to toggle it?
Are there codes for RIT/XIT, Vox? Do some manuals for the VI or VI+ contain
more information?
Thanks for any assistance.
