I have not used this to power the Herc II but if I was going to
use battery power I would. The Deep cycle batteries recommended by
Ten-Tec are the same type used for marine use and there are a
number of good two and three stage chargers available at
reasonable cost. They are intended for marine use but hey we are
used to adapting things right? I use a "Guest" three stage charger
to keep two deep cycle marine batteries topped off on my boat and
it works beautifully. Take a look at boatus.com or dbmarine.com
for a wide selection of these things.
