[TenTec] RTTY Key Jack on Omni V

I just built an computer interface for my Omni V.  I had planned on using
the RTTY Key jack to control PTT, but it appears that it only works in FSK
mode, i.e. shorting the center contact to ground will only cause the radio
to TX in FSK mode.  It looks like I have to use the PTT connector to get the
radio to TX in SSB (which is what I need for the computer).  Is this
correct?
