Does this sometimes happen immediately after you
stop xmiting?
Sounds as if you might have a dirty/worn T/R relay contact;
otherwise, why would transmitting suddenly return the
lost rcvr sensitivity. I had exactly the same problem,
except the "bad" relay was over on a non-Ten Tec
linear amp.
In the O VI, try tapping on the K1 relay on the Low Pass
Filter board (81592). This relay is supposed to be OPEN
on rcv, and closed on transmit.
Another relay is at the input of the BPF/FRONT END Board
(81593). Again the relay is called K1, and it operates the
-20 dB attenuator set up. When your signal is in the "fadeed"
mode, try pushing the ATTN button ON/OFF a couple of times.
If this relay is on the "fritz", the signal strength just might
suddenly recover some 20 db in amplitude. Not sure why
this would recover on xmit, however, while the one above
must close during xmit, and be cleanly open on rcv.
I'm not able to figure out the PTT function; have not
been able to find it in the manual; perhaps something
in that circuitry. It must, among other things, operate
the K1 relay on the 81592 board.
Just a couple of thoughts.
