Here's an item which we all probably know about, but can bite you:
I have an old TT 262m power supply which I have had many years, and have
continued to use it on a variety of TT rigs. Recently I acquired a beautiful
little Delta rig, and confidently hooked it up to the 262 ps. The unit
worked fine for a while as I checked alignment in the rig. Then all of a
sudden the pass xsister let go, swamping the Delta with about 24 volt dc
bulk voltage. That's right (as I already knew) there is no crowbar circuit
in that old supply. Many things were damaged in the Delta (Thank goodness
for GREAT TT service). But the experience cost me $175 bucks -counting
shipping- and took the Delta out of service for a couple weeks......
Keep this in mind whenever you press those older TT power supplies
into service. Yes, I will keep the 262m, but I will add a crowbar circuit
to it before using it again!!
