Actually, the connector is an AMP Mate N' Lok.

Bill, I would try replacing the molex connector from the power supply. That
connector when its old and dirty can produce alot of strange problems. When
the rig requests higher current from the power supply and flows through the
connector can result in many problems. The front panel can freeze up, the
rig
can kinda shut down but not all the way as when the circuit breaker in the
power supply trips, the received and transmit signals can sound terrible. If

the molex connector is at fault then a mirco-processor reset will not fix
the
problem. The connector tubes tend to separate after a time, not making
proper
contact with the male counterpart.
Before you send the rig back please replace the molex connector, you just
may
be suprised that problem was not as bad as you suspected.
Good luck de K2ZF (Jim)
