I'm not sure how an S meter could show signal strenght at the antenna
input since there is such a wide spectrum of signals present at that
point. I don't see any reason why S meters couldn't be more accurate. I've
calibrated mine at 50uv for S9 and checked it against my HP generator and
gotten fair accuracy. A few db error is no big deal.
RST reports are much more subjective than S meter readings in my
opinion. An S-9 report is supposed to be "Extreamly Strong". In my mind,
thats about 30db over S9.
