Hello group,
Received my Pegasus yesterday afternoon and have had a chance to play a =
bit.
As per the receiver's performance, I generally agree with Paul =
Christensen's assessment. It's not quite up to an Omni 6 Plus, but is =
not too shabby considering the price.
I'm running the Pegasus interface under Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5. =
Other than the keyer speed and sidetone not changing unless the internal =
keyer is toggled off and on, the software appears fairly solid.
The color coding of the accessory DIN plug cable however, does not agree =
with the manual. The correct pin out is as follows:
Pin 3 - PTT - Black RCA jack
Pin 1 - Audio In - White RCA jack
Pin 4 - Audio Out - Yellow RCA jack
Pin 5 - N/C - Red RCA jack
Pin 2 - Ground
Using the rig for PSK is about as close as to plug-n-play as you could =
ask. Simply connect the "Line Out" jack on the front of the Pegasus to =
the "Line Input" jack on your computer sound card and "Pin 1" of the =
Pegasus accessory cable to the sound card "Line Output" jack. Adjust =
the Pegasus VOX gain, anti-vox, and VOX delay, the sound card "Line =
Input" and "Wave" levels, and off you go. I'm running PSK31 version =
1.07. The selectable DSP filtering really is a plus in this mode.
I don't normally operate phone, so will have to find a microphone next.
Consider me delighted!
Karl - W5QJ
