Just a quick comment, the AGC in the Corsair, the "hang" 
time constant, wasn't very good in my opinion.  I imagine
that might be half or more of the difference you are 
hearing.  If you can turn the AGC off and kick back the
RF gain a bit, see if they don't sound more the same.
