That was great Bob! Reminded me of my Swan Astro 102BX. It had continously
variable agc. That came in real handy. Basically I think the agc in most
modern rigs is too aggresive and for cw we would be better off with less of
it. Perhaps a combination of af and if agc would work. For those strong
short peaks, the af gain could be clipped to prevent ear damage and recovery
almost instantainous and for signals of long duration the IF agc would
reduce the IF again accordingly.
