No, I was just commenting on comparing those two rigs that I used in the
contest (why contesters don't use more Ten-Tecs?). Besides, I saw comments
from people (and TT advertising) that TT is superior to other radios, like FT
1Ks etc.
I also briefly compared Omni VI with my TS870 with 2.1 IR filters ($1700 +
150) and didn't find anything on Omni that TS870 could not hear.
As far as DSP: I found it interesting that the first night, I could not use
the "help" of DSP, second night it helped. It must be the mushy signals
sometimes that make things confusing for DSP.
I am going to dust off my TS930 ($600 now) and see how that squares with
Omni-potent radio.
Just wonder why SignalOne picked IC781 as the backbone for modifications to
MilSpec 1030? Used 781s go for around 3000, not too far from loaded Omnis
(and you GET MUCH more radio, panadapter, dual receive, 150W, PS, RX monitor,
nice keying, no drift, ant. tuner, cont coverage, all filters, etc.) Sooo?
For contester, price sometimes is irrelevant, performance is. Meaning, if
there is better radio and it costs more, I will starve, drive old car and
save $$ in order to get the sucker. There is no "religious thing" here, just
because it is Ten-Tec or Apple.
Bare facts m'am, just bare facts. Have I poked into the hornet's nest?
Just my 2 cents (Canadian) in addition to what I have read here.
