Its probably better than most direct conversion receivers. D-C
receivers sound surprisingly good and Ten Tec made their first ones
around 1969. It got a good review in the Worldradio News QRP column.
I believe it even has a variable audio filter which should make it
pretty good for cw. For general use you probably won't find anything
better at that price. Usability will be a direct function of how
you construct the tuning dial. A 10 turn pot or variable capacitor
with a vernier would be a good enhancement.
