There really is no big difference. The receiver strip is the
same, well, the main filter got moved from one board to another
in the CII, but it is still the same chain.
The CI had a 4 pole filter stock (but many have the 8 pole)
in the 9 MHz 1st IF. The CII had an 8 pole filter stock.
The CII has a keyer built into it. It has an audio VBT
(somewhat useful, but external audio filters quite as
useful). The spot function works a little differently,
don't recall exact details. Maybe different Noise blanker,
equally weak in each radio.
I find the CII a bit more convenient to use, audio VBT and
keyer make it more compact for CW operation. However, the
CI can sometimes be found for under $400 and is quite a
nice deal for that, the basic radio is pretty darned good
overall.
