Hello everyone!

I'd like to announce (brag) that after years and years of searching, I
have finally acquired a BEAUTIFUL, Ten*Tec RX-10 receiver!

It cost a small fortune, but that's the way it goes, plus, I got that
kinda dough.

The RX-10 is a 80, 40, 20, and 15 meter DC receiver based upon the Power
Mite design. It looks an awful lot like a Power Mite 3. It runs on
12vdc OR you can plug it in the wall.

One bizzare-o feature of the rig is that it includes a built-in
code-practice oscillator. The owner's manual suggests (accurately) that
the radio was designed to be marketed to pre-novice hams. It includes
information on propagation and the novice frequency-plan.

The RX-10 was designed to be used with the incredibly rare Ten*Tec TX-100
tube-based transmitter. Yes, Ten*Tec built a tube transmitter. yeah... I
got one :-)... wanna make a sked? :-)

Also...

The kids had last week off so we piled into the W8KCmobile and made a dash
to the Smoky mountains and parts south.

Friday I had a great visit with Scott at Ten*Tec. I arrived unannounced
just after 9am and Scott was pleased to hang out with me for about an hour
and a half talking TT lore and facts.

I was honored to be the first non-TT employee to get to see the new
dual-band (6M and 2M) all-mode rig. It looks like a winner. The IF DSP
is really cool and puts TT on the cutting edge of ham rig technology.

One of these days I'll spend a little more time with those boys and
straighten out that Ten*Tec museum. It's an impressive display, but out
of chronological order ;-)

Thanks to Scott for a great visit.
