Hi Alan and all--
Glad the reflector is back up and running.
I have an Omni-C with all the WARC bands installed. The 17 meter band was a
problem. Because of the internal frequencies (particularly the 9 MHz IF),
the rig had spurious emissions (which were as continuous transmissions on
frequencies in addition to the one desired). I could tell there was a
problem when I reduced the drive to minimum and still had a few watts of
output.
My call to Ten-Tec some 10 years ago about this problem was answered with,
"Yes, that's a problem alright." They said the fix for it was to buy a
Corsair II or Delta 580 which used a different mixing scheme.
For that reason, I have said here before - and still do - that in my opinion
use of the Omni-A, B, C or D (the black rigs, whatever they should be
called) on the 18 MHz band is a bad idea.
