John asked me what response I'd gotten to my request about a Ten-Tec Omni V
service manual, so I thought I'd follow up here for others to give feedback.
I'm sure that such a thing must exist internally at Ten-Tec, but I gather
that they don't make them available to the public. Some responded to me that
the service manual was in the owner's manual, and I grant you that the
documentation is very good. An experienced engineer could do anything he
wanted to do without much more, but a service manual should detailed
procedures for alignments and signal checks that indicate voltages, signal
levels, distortion levels, etc. Even the Ten-Tec owner's manuals, as good as
they are, aren't what I would call a service manual. I would very much like
to get one for my Omni V, but it would appear that short of bribing someone
at the factory, it isn't likely.
It seems kind of strange that Ten-Tec won't supply these. My dad's comment
was that it must mean that Ten-Tec doesn't want to encourage owner's to work
on their own radios. But I have always sort of thought that was part of the
appeal of Ten-Tec. I'm not sure why you would bother to put schematics in
the owner's manual otherwise.
Is it possible that Ten-Tec really doesn't have that sort of service
information documented anywhere? I suppose that they could use automatic
test equipment so that the only real source of a test procedure would be a
the ATE test program, but even then I'd think they would document it to be
human readable as well.

Hi Tom,
Curious whether you received any replies on the existence of service manuals
for the Omni V. I have a "V" here and would like to have a service manual
in case it has a problem in the future.
Thanks,
John W0DC
