Hello All:
I understand a lot of the defensive attitude towards Ten Tec,
who wants to hear them criticized? However, I also believe
that Ten Tec service can handle themselves without the
anecdotes used to "prove" how stupid the complaint must be.
How the heck does anyone on this list know the nature of
the guy's complaint? Really.
I, for one, don't think Ten Tec needs a fan club to defend it
against all perceived foes, real and imagined. I own Ten Tec
and I own Kenwood (and, yes, I have spoken to real service
techs who have handled my questions and helped me, etc...)
and I prefer my Ten Tec equipment because it is very well
engineered for my uses, better than others. I use Ten Tec
service because they generally do a very fine job in a
conscientious manner.
I also find some of Ten Tec's strength in their ability to
handle customer problems. That is not well supported by our
nearly blind defense of them, guys. I know of other "fanclubs"
for the JA rigs and they blindly defend their brands. When we Ten
Tec'nofiles begin name calling instead of listening and
considering the source and intention, we are not doing better.
Occasionally, we might just keep a noble silence and let Ten
Tec handle it themselves. They are quite capable of that.
Ten Tec equipment is generally very fine stuff. Ten Tec service
is also generally fine. That needs no defense, but it does need
constant vigilance to keep it up. That's what I count on.
