Hmmm.  I have been involved with ESD (avoidance) for many years and all the 
wrist straps, heel & toe straps, floor mats, bench mats, etc. had 500k Ohm 
resistors in them.

Hi Ken... think about it: static charges may be considered as having high
voltage-low current properties. The average anti-static armband for
CMOS/etc. solder-workstation work has a 10M resistor to ground. 100k is a
LOT lower than that, yet, in comparison to 50 ohms might as well not be
there to the tx. There IS a time-constant involved, so it is not
instantaneous. Also, we are NOT talking about lightning here, just the kind
of build-up you may observe on any antenna as a storm approaches.
