Next time you have to change a chip that's soldered in make it easy on
the PC board. Sacrifice the chip by cutting ALL its leads on top next to
the plastic. Then you can remove the leads one at a time heating on the
bottom side and tugging on the lead on the top side with small pliers or
tweezers. At that point a little solderwick cleans up the empty holes
easily. THEN solder in a socket unless the audio output IC needs its
leads soldered to a large area of copper for heat sinking.
