Design oversight resulted in various problems in some Scouts, due to
stray RF feeding back into the transceiver on the (UNFILTERED!) power
lead.
Correction simply requires installation of two basic parts on the DC
supply line just INSIDE the case: A 100 pF ceramic disc, and one Amidon
type 77 ferromagnetic bead. Connect the cap across the +/- leads; place
the bead (with two turns) on the positive wire. Both need to be as close
as possible to the power connector. You will need to extend the red +
lead a few inches to give you enough wire for the two turns you will make
through the bead. Total cost less than a buck and about an hour.
