I built a simple converter using a NE602 for the xtal oscillator/mixer and
plug it into the "receive antenna" jack of an Omni-A and Delta 580, leaving
the TX/RX antenna switched to TX. A 4 MHz xtal gives me the 49 M SWL band
(5.9 to 6.2 MHz) on 160 M. The BBC (5.975 Mhz) comes in great with a 5'
piece of wire for a converter antenna. The passband is too narrow for music,
and tuning for perfect zero-beat is touchy, but the news sounds fine.
About $5 and an hour of work.
