The 253 uses a non-volatile RAM, an X2404P. According to Ten Tec this
type of RAM has a finite number of times it can be written to. They told
me it would take about 10,000 settings to fill up! I can't imagine that
ever happening in practice but it happened to mine. I was not the
original owner of the tuner so I have no idea how it was used before I
got it.
