The rig you describe was probably the TenTec Delta II. It came out in the
1992 timeframe,
and was reviewed in CQ, July, 1992. It has most of the features that have
been mentioned,
and had the 'Jones Filter' variable crytal filter. Unfortunately, it had a
General Coverage
receiver (to compete with rice boxes?) and did not measure up to the
Corsair II or Omni V
receivers. I think this was its main demise. They do sometimes appear
used for about $995.
My vote is for an updated Corsair II, with the short range PLL instead of
the PTO. The rest of
Corsair II features seem fine for a simple, but elegant rig.
I have seen Corsair II's sell on this relector in literally minutes! Not
bad for a 1987 vintage
rig. The supply is defintely limited, and the demand is there.
