Back in my Navy days, I had the privilege (???) of being shipped to the
Armpit of the Indian Ocean, NAVCOMMSTA Diego Garcia, which was a GREAT
DX location, but had nothing else to its advantage.
I took a Ten Tec Argonaut (505) with me, and had a blast, even with the
QRP. I also got hooked on QRP operation with this years operation over
there.
I am wondering who else has gone QRP DX'ing from the other side,
especially with the Argo 556 out now (my next rig, after the
38-special). I had outstanding results with the basic '505 and the
filtering in the Argo 556 looks like several orders of magnitude of
improvement over the 4-pole (or was it a 6-pole) IF filter int eh 505.
I presently am running an Alinco DX-70T (QRP, of course) which I bought
mainly for 6 Meters.
Speaking of 6 Meters, has anyone modified the 10 Meter module for the
Scout/Argo for 6 Meters directly instead of the 1208 Xvtr route???
