Noise blankers on Omnis

Okay gang, all this talk of noise blankers has me curious.   I have a Omni
V; which by the way I love; but I have found no useful purpose for the noise
blanker.  Exactly what types of noises is it suppose to take out?  Maybe I
don't know how to use it, but I can't tell any difference between when it's
on or when it's off.
