Hi Mark,

You're right. That's what I saw on the cd. At the time when I read 
that part, I missed its meaning.

Am starting from scratch (again). It there's no joy this time around, 
I'm going to format the hd, and install Windows 98 and be done with 
it.  I would rather have DOS coexist with XP because of the other 
stuff that's on the drive. I used to be proficient in DOS back in the 
early '80s when I had an original IBM PC (the one with the little 
green screen).

The box I'm trying to get DOS running on has an AMD 1600 mHz 
processor, a gb of memory, and a quick Seagate Barracuda drive. 
Hopefully, none of this stuff is part of the problem.
