I'm using pure DOS 6.22 (no Windows available on my logging machine), but was
not using SMARTDRV for TRLog--although I had menus set up in CONFIG.SYS and
AUTOEXEC.BAT that used SMARTDRV in other situations.
So I copied the SMARTDRV line (loaded high) into the TRLog section of the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file and tried again. Now there doesn't seem to be a slowdown,
neither in the simple ARCI experiment that I described earlier nor in a more
realistic imaginary event (with the radio interfaced but set to zero output).
End-of-contest shutdown now also goes much more quickly, although that was
never a problem. Hopefully there will be no negative side effects of SMARTDRV;
loading it high prevented a hit on QSO memory.
Thanks for the help.
