So THAT'S why the sim was producing sidetone from the radio once and never again. I must have turned the sim on while TR was running.

I actually prefer it coming from the computer as the calls don't all have the same beat note as what I'm sending.

I assume everyone knows this trick with the simulator, but I just noticed it.

After a certain version TRlog allows you to turn on the simulator from the Ctl J file in real time with no need to
restart the program. By coding error or good luck the
simulator will key the radio allowing you to really hear
the CW with the radio's sidetone instead of the PC's
internal audio.

I have to pull the PTT line and take the radio out of
break-in so only the side tone is keyed. But what I get is the side tone freq and level I will use for the contest.

Now the TRLog simulator was never meant to be a pile-up trainer and plenty of those are available. This
does feed you one call at a time, kind of like what
HC8/P4 hears, all on the same freq and strength. It
does works well for call-sign practice however and the latest Trmaster file will feed you a lot of the calls
you will work which is good.

Cw at 32 WPM feeds you 5 calls a minute which is 300 a hour, a good evening workout to get ready for
the WW. Also great practice for Auto Call Terminate
set for 4 characters while being fed a good mix of 6 letter calls.
