XP does have a boot manager.

Note that you must use the FAT file system, not NTFS.

For a few (tens of) bucks, you can get a copy of Partition Magic and set
up
a DOS partition on the hard drive, and then all will be well. For that
matter, I'm not sure XP doesn't have its own boot manager that will do
this
same trick.
