Folks,
If you would like to test drive the band map before the next contest I have made
a file containing over 1600 spots which generates about 625 band map entries. It
is on my web site at either
http://www.qsl.net/kk1l/spots.txt (122K) or
http://www.qsl.net/kk1l/spots.zip (25K)
In order to have TR read in these spots just as if they were coming in during a
contest, start TR with the command line option "PACKETFILE". You need to have
defined a packet port for this to work, but it does not have to even be hooked
up.
Defining the port turns on the functions within TR to enable packet spots.
So, LOGCFG.DAT needs to contain a line similar to "PACKET PORT = SERIAL 1". To
use the file I created the command to start TR would be
"TR PACKETFILE SPOTS.TXT". You don't have to wait for all the spots to load to
play around with the program, it is truly acting as if receiving spots in a
contest.
Please make sure the map works with your radio. I think you will like the
improvements and suggestions are welcome! I have only tested it directly with my
TS-850. I did monitor the commands to other radios which APPEARED to be okay. I
would like proof however! It is way too late once the contest starts.
By the way the band map does not work very well without a radio attached to the
computer...it relies on frequency information being fed back to it to display
the correct mode and band. To use a band map in this case I would recommend
running the band map in SHOW ALL BANDS and SHOW ALL MODES mode.
