Clive,
Have you done any real market research on this or are just assuming that ham
contesting software is a emerging market.
Remember, we did a survey of the current userbase, which as you may or may
not know, is where 70% of business comes from (repeat business). The userbase
just wanted the DOS version to run correctly under a Windows dos box, or
wanted the Windows version to look and act like the dos version, and wanted
to pay less that $30 per copy for it.
If you think there is a market, put your money where your mouth is. It'll
cost between $100,000 - $200,000 to do it right (i.e. all features, docs,
etc). It'll take 9-12 months to do and you need a good Windows coder, device
driver coder, documentation writer and QA person just to get to the beta
cycle.
If you want to fund it and share a portion of the royalties for your funding,
let me know.

I'd just like to say how pleasant it is to see Tree updating the
prog. a little more regularly once again.
I therefore nurture the hope that he might resurrect the project
to port the system to Windows this year, and in the process
choose a more amenable partner than CSS inc., who can grasp that
folk *will* pay for new toys, despite their initial
protestations; here's *one* who will.
I'm not holding my breath, but it is a time to be sanguine at
the start of a new year. Thanks for all that has passed, without
which I wouldn't be using compute logging, nor entering as many
contexts, and here's to that which may come to pass.
