do you have CALLSIGN UPDATE ENABLE set to TRUE?
TR might take the 1B72TN as a call sign. I have this problem with grid
locators, JO40UN is taken as a call sign too.

Ahh - mebbe so, but I have always used the "@" feature to send the other
guy's callsign before the exchange in order to eliminate possibility of
adjacent channel folks thinking that I am working them.
Regardless, what I get is the "contents" of the exchange window:
i.e. "1B72TN" for the value of "@" then my exchange info!
